MY MUSE
We were treading water,
up above the ocean,
where we threw our souls wide open;
and together we followed the current home.
We smiled into each other’s eyes,
looking up to the skies, a steady compromise,
and made promises we would keep;
for though it was sweet, and not cheap.
We kicked leaves on the sidewalks,
where they crackled under bare toes.
We made dreams out of beautiful things,
and wore smiles all through the day;
sweat covered our faces as we ran away,
and I fell in love with our simple ways,
and my muse.
