HAIDER- I WOULD NOT HAVE FORGIVEN MYSELF IF I HADN'T WATCHED IT
After a long
wait finally I got time to watch Haider because I was curious to know what is
so special about this movie where all are showering praises on it. And when I finally
watched it, I must say the hangover of this movie is going to last on me for
several days to come. I have never seen such a hard hitting movie made in
bollywood in recent times. The scenic beauty of Kashmir captured with raw
essence. Haider is a tale of decoy, betrayal and revenge. The tale of how a poet
turn into a ferocious murderer. The story of complex relationships and turmoil
going within a human mind.
When Haider
says,” Dil ki agar sunu toh tu hai….Dimag ki sunu to tu hai nahi. Jaan lu ki
jaan dun ? Main rahoon ki main nahin simply
explains the complex situation of Haider who is torn between the death of his
father and the relationship of his mother with his uncle. The pain of
separation from his dad and that mental state he reaches when it is revealed to
him that his dad is dead. The shock he gets when he is told that His mother
betrayed his dad . The anger with which he stares at Khurram and threatens him
that he would take his life. The pain with which he embraces the dead body of His
lady love Arshia. That scornful laughter haider laughs as if laughing at his
own density, the pain with which he sheds his tears Shahid kapoor essays the role of haider to
near perfection perhaps the best role of his career. I have never liked shahid
kapoor and his movies perhaps his last movie R…Rajkumar was one of the worst
movies I ever saw. But then in this movie man he rocks. He just burns the screen
with his presence. Salute MAN…..You deserve a standing ovation….
Khurram
could have killed haider if Ghazala had not intervened, it was his lust or you
may say love for Ghazala ( Haider’s mother) that leads to his downfall. He
cunningly traps Haider’s Father, his brother and gets him killed, and then
lures his sister in law whom he was attracted to , to marry him. Till the climax
he had everything, Haider is injured and khurram has still many men left . He
would kill haider in no time but here comes the woman for whom he did all this
evil deeds. The woman he lusted for, the wife of his brother and mother of
haider. She asks him to spare his son, he refuses. Then she reminds him “ if
you ever loved me, do not refuse me, let me go and meet my son. He will
understand, I will make him understand and he will obey me”. Khurram bows down
before his love and that’s where he does his biggest mistake. He allows Ghazala
to meet haider. For the sake of this woman he did all this cruel deeds and for the same woman he loses everything.
Tabu as Ghazala, the woman with multilayered
emotions and Kay Kay Menon as the cunning Khurram make this movie worth a
watch.
In the end
the beautiful Kashmir valley is filled with dead bodies all over lying on the
snow with body parts lying here and there and blood spilled all over……Ghazala
is dead….Arshia is dead…Haider’s father is dead…..Haider has lost everything…..so
has Khurram….
The hang
over of haider is here to stay in my mind for days to come….and for all those morons who are saying that Haider is a film against Indian army...go get a life....
